Kessler Associates blog: Excel progress bar |
|
Excel spreadsheets can carry out just about any calculation you can think of. The data can be presented in a number of highly illustrative ways, but did you know that one of those ways involved a progress bar? It's very easy to set up (unlike Working with arrays, a previous solution which Kessler Associates was asked to deliver). It takes a matter of moments, once you know which data will be used to form the bar.
The image above shows a progress bar illustrating the climb towards a target figure. The bar's progress is tied to the percentage figure. This is automatically calculated from the target total figure and the amount so far figure. The 'Paid' figures change the amount so far and therefore the progress bar. Creating the progress bar relies only on conditional formatting - something which is already built into Excel 2010 onwards - so no add-ons or programming are required. Whatever you need, we have the solution. Return to the blog index here. |
